Luke 42:48-50
48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
50 And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.
Those of us who are familiar with current technology and use it daily understand the necessity of electricity. It is the power source that enables us to function every day in our homes and work places. Everything from our automobile to the smallest cell in our body requires an electrical impulse. When we run out of places to plug into to receive power, we simply obtain a power strip, or as some call it…a power tree, to plug more into. This strip is plugged into the origin of the power source, then multiple things can be plugged into it.
So many times, in our spiritual lives, we fail to plug directly into the origin of our power source…the Holy Spirit. We find “spiritual power strips” to plug into…our pastors, our churches, our families, friends, and sometimes we even fill our time with going to seminars and conferences or filling our libraries with books on “how to become a better you” or “how to manage you time/finances.” What most people do not take into consideration is that fact that sometimes power strips can malfunction. If there is a power surge, the strip can be destroyed, preventing any power from flowing to anything plugged into it. Therefore, it is best to plug into origin of power to ensure proper power flow.
If your power supply has failed you…stop, backtrack, and take a look at your source, then plug into the never ending power source of the Holy Spirit.
